I guess I figure Facebook should have better ways of dealing with this other than closing accounts, at the very least, although, to be honest, I think the whole controversy is pretty silly on their part. See Thomas Hawk's post on the subject, for instance.
More arguments against the walled garden, I guess.
Unfortunately I'm not at all surprised. Facebook has been deleting profile pics of people breastfeeding since early 2007... I'm actually surprised that it's only been recently that the media has become focused on it.
Just wanted to elaborate on the situation. On January 1, 2009 I posted the image, On January 2 I was contacted to have the image published in a newspaper regarding the controversy about breastfeeding and Facebook, on January 3 the article was published, on January 4 I noticed my account was canceled.
No warning nothing when I tried to log on all I received was a message saying the account was terminated.

NO!!! I can't believe facebook deleted your account...I hope they then delete all pictures of people eating. I hope you're going to fight it.
Doesn't the picture need to be flagged by someone as an obscene picture...?
Wow! That is so horrible. I have a picture on facebook of myself breastfeeding my son shortly after he was born.
Please let us know what happens.
