Busy busy busy

So lots have happened more then I can possibly blog about.

First life with a toddler is hectic so I am going to keep my blogging to Sunday nights; however on good weeks I will set up a few post to deploy threw out the week... I wanted to say a big thank you to my readers and I hope with fewer post the content will only get better.

I have recently decided to start the process of getting accredited as a La Lech League Leader; which is also eating up my time. For those of you who are not familiar with La Lech; it's an organization run mostly by volunteer nursing mothers that support other nursing mothers with there trials and tribulation and success and joys of breastfeeding. We have been attending the Greenwood group regularly now for almost a year; through them I have met many wonderful mothers that I now consider great friends.

CHRISTOPHE REPORT:
Christophe is keeping me busy and has learned so many new things, his abilities are always changing and growing - here is a list of things Christophe has recently been doing:
  • walking - fully mastered
  • starting to run - sometimes trips
  • can climb our step ladder
  • can climb his high chair (gets in and out himself)
  • goes up and down the stairs on his own (with me spotting him)
  • draws
  • can complete his shape puzzle with a little help
  • can complete his staking toy
  • climbs on everything
  • rolls a ball
  • claps
  • getting much better drinking from a cup - however still has not mastered the sippy cup
  • loves to make music
  • loves to "help" with baking
  • starting to help me arround the house
  • imitates his parents
  • shakes his head no when he does not want to do something
  • actually takes his vitamins when he is told to
  • retrives and items for me when I ask and points to it
  • "points" to things when he wants them
I think I could go on forever.

I can walk (kinda)

Here are our sons first steps (he took is actual first steps on January 11, this is the first time I have been able to catch it on camera). He is 10 1/2 months in this video I took today; before I started filming he had already made 2 steps and in the video he takes 6 solo steps then one last unassisted step while he reaches for the chair to start cruising instead.

I would like to add this is one of the first times he has walked not holding on to a toy, usually he is distracted and does not realize what he is doing this time he was fully aware that he was walking to mama.

Mile stones

So our little guy has passed many other mile stones:

Can site unsupported
Can pass toys from hand to hand
Can hold his toes
Holds his legs up when we are changing diapers - and does so every time
Grabs for toys (specific ones he is already showing us his favorites)
Gets upset if he is having a good time and we need to change activities (Today he got upset for a little bit when we left the park)
No longer faces mom when sitting in the stroller (I think this is more a mile stone for me)
Has hit the 20 lbs mark
Has outgrown his baby swing and more clothing then I can count

There are many more but that is it for now.

I can sit :-)

Another mile stone has passed. Christophe can now sit unsupported for anywheres between 5 sec to 5 mins+. It depends on how active he is and what there is in his surroundings that can distract him; but overall he seems to enjoy sitting and is quite good at it. He can also sit propped up for hours on end...

He now has a new game its called sitting in my high chair and throwing things to the ground. This will keep him amused for around 30 to 60 mins. Yes that is correct because of this I can now eat my meals without a child attached to my arms.

  • 1st open air poo (and so far the only one)
  • figured out breast-feeding (latches on like a pro)

  • held a toy
  • when on the ttc (bus, streetcar and subway)
  • discovered himself in the mirror
  • ripped his pacifier out of his mouth with his hand (then got upset cause he could not put it back)
  • took a nape in his crib
  • Spent time at home with dad while mommy went to the store
  • Went for a walk with grandmama without mommy or dady

  • slept a full night in his crib with his mom in another room

I am sure somewheres in there I missed something...

Mommy mile stones

So during the past 11 weeks not only has Christophe passed tones of mile stones so have I.

  • Not caring what other people think of my parenting style
  • 1st day at home solo with baby
  • fitting in my pre-pregnancy clothing
  • 1st weekend away from dad solo with baby (well we went to visit grandmama so I had help if needed)
  • Breast-feeding in public without a nursing cover (and not caring what other people may think)
  • Left Christophe alone with grandmama while i went for quick shopping trip down the block (I have to say I never felt so guilty)
  • First mommy and baby class (We now do yoga once a week)
  • Leaving the house with baby in arms in less then 15 minutes (the trick to this is to always make sure your diaper bag is ready)
  • Letting Christophe sleep a full night in his room alone (this was a mile stone for Christophe also)
  • As much as I want to jump in; not intervening when Geoff is taking care of Christophe and he starts crying. He is just as great a dad as I am a mom and can handle it :-)
